HEAR US OUT! Law Students demand the golden rule of three: ACCOUNTABILITY (We have expectations from those in charge!), TRANSPARENCY (Let us tell you what we are owed!), & ACCESS (Let us tell you what we deserve!). To those who have answers...HEAR US OUT!

Who is Sandeep Niranjan?

Plain and simple, I am a first year QUB Senior Status law student with over four years of leadership experience who is exceptionally equipped to have your voice heard by those who hold seats of authority.

Why is Sandeep running for Undergraduate School Representative for the School of Law & Why should you vote for him?

During my undergraduate degree in Toronto Canada, I was a two-time President of the Ryerson University Toastmasters, ENACTUS Project Manager, VP of Events for the Ryerson Law Network, and now an avid QUB Law Society Charity Committee Member. These roles have motivated me to lead change, accomplish objectives in a timely manner, and deliver results. My aims (listed below) are simple, measurable, attainable, relevant to your needs, and time sensitive. I do not hesitate, I only take action, because it’s time for our campus to HEAR US OUT!

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Many societies and clubs on campus have great potential to hold events that meet the needs of students. Increasing communication and awareness between clubs and law students will ensure that events are not just another social but, more importantly, experiential training sessions that will prepare us for our careers.

**GOAL: I will carry out multiple polls with the law cohort to access their needs, send reports to necessary student group leaders, and liaise with their event planners to ensure they address your needs.

TRANSPARENCY:

This semester QUB law students have succumbed to inflated tuition fees and received what in return? We cannot access the facilities we were promised on campus, such as the library, sports facilities, lecture halls, and various other buildings we need. We cannot sit in on in-person lectures and enjoy a conventional learning experience. Instead, we are given recorded lectures and online tutorials as if they suffice. While COVID-19 may be the cause, the virus is no reason students are being charged the same amount as they were pre-covid. Its administrative irregularities that make me feel like we’re being taken advantage of.

**GOAL: I will speak to Deans and Heads of Department to investigate why we are not receiving a fee reduction and for what REASON we are inappropriately being charged.

ACCESS:

As law students, we are pragmatic and determined individuals with growth mindsets. This means that we are in search of ways in which we can learn new skills and equip ourselves to be the best legal practitioners that we can be. How do we do this though without opportunities to learn and gain these skills? I have heard from many students that, not only do events offered by groups lack value, they are also not vocal regarding what events they have planned, what services they offer, how to get involved, when to get involved, and what students might learn. Many clubs charge membership fees but what do law students recieve in return? These are distinct BARRIERS to access.

**GOAL: I will speak to groups such as QUB ADR, QUB Mooting, the QUB Law Society, and many related groups regarding how we can make their plans more clear, accessible, and valuable to law students.
