Hi! My name is Eóin and I'm running to be the Disabled Students' Association Chairperson.
Initially, I had not planned on running for any position within the SU, however, after seeing that no one was nominated for the position, I want to stand for election to give a strong voice to disabled students like myself across the university.
My Priorities~
•Free disability consultations by professionals
•Recorded lectures
•Increased accessibility around campus and accommodation- including transportation and parking on campus
•Access to the Disability Services for all pupils
•Working in a radically inclusive and intersectional way to ensure maximum pressure on authorities by students and that accommodations can be made to benefit all
•If necessary, I'm prepared to take action through protests and demonstrations to ensure our voices are heard
About me~
I'm currently studying Politics BA in my final year and am hoping to continue my studies at Queens next year, by undertaking an MA in Anthropology. I have previously served as a Student Representative from 2020-22 and have re-founded and been the President of the Politics Society from 2021-2023.
I have dyspraxia, which is a disability which effects my fine motor skills, coordination and other aspects of my life. I recognise that I am very lucky, my disability only effects me minorly, however, I have still faced obstacles throughout my entire life and this has emboldened me to push for change for myself and others. That is what I want to do for you.
My Experience~
Having been one of the re-founders of the Politics Society and its President since November of 2021, I have a wealth of experience in teamwork, leadership and delivery which I can bring to this role. Moreover, in this role and as a Student Rep, I have had the opportunity to make connections and understand the institutions of the SU, I am therefore ready to hit the ground running from the very start to deliver for you
