Volunteer Information Stall with DKMS (23/04/2026, 11:00)

Get Your Swab Out - DKMS will be at Queen’s Students’ Union to raise awareness about blood cancer and encourage students to join the stem cell register. Every 14 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia or lymphoma, and for many patients, a stem cell transplant is their only chance of survival. Yet finding a matching donor can be incredibly difficult, especially for those from diverse ethnic backgrounds and making it vital to grow the register.

Signing up is quick and simple; just 3 swabs could save a life. If you're 16-55 and in general good health, visit the DKMS stall in the Students’ Union foyer anytime between 11am and 2pm on Thursday 23^rd April.

Volunteer Information Stall: Volunteer Now - Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (16/04/2026, 11:00)

Over 800,000 people are set to experience Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (the world’s biggest celebration of Irish music and culture) from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August 2026 in Belfast. Visitors will need to know how to get around the city, where to find performance venues, access facilities and more. Volunteers will be instrumental in making the famous festival a success. Every performance, smiling face and unforgettable moment will be made possible by those who give of their time, energy and support. A range of volunteering roles will be available including street ambassadors, team leaders and customer services and every volunteer will receive specialist training.

No booking required, just call over for a chat about this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Workshop: Basic First Aid for Student Volunteers (16/04/2026, 13:00)

Join Andy from Health Matters, one of the UK and Ireland’s premier Health and Safety organisations, who will be delivering a Basic First Aid Workshop to support student who are also volunteers.

This Basic First Aid course aims to equip you with the key information to act effectively in the event of a first aid emergency, including the ability to:

carry out a primary survey
ensure the safety of yourself and others
place an unresponsive casualty, who is breathing normally, into the recovery position
know when and how to deliver CPR to an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally

Tea/coffee provided and all participants will be given a meal deal voucher for The Union Shop at the end of the session.

PLEASE NOTE: There are limited numbers for this event. Please only book a space if you are sure you can attend.

As we enter the height of assessment season, join us for a one hour workshop to focus on managing stress.

Action Mental Health will be facilitating a one-hour workshop focusing on identifying and managing stress at a heightened time of year. Content will also include the role of sleep and building a positive sleep routine to support stress management.
