Count on Conor!

Upfront, for those who don't want to read the full manifesto: If I'm elected, I will listen to every bit of feedback I hear from you, and will respond to you appropriately. I will raise every issue at SVC meetings, and I will keep you updated on the progress. My slogan is absolutely terrible, I do know that, but I promise to uphold it no matter what.

Now, with that made clear, who am I?

I'm Conor Rathbone. I study Social Policy and Sociology, and I come from Hull, in East Riding of Yorkshire. My pronouns are he/him.

The truth is that, looking at the role description, it's extremely light on details about what we can actually accomplish for you. There's mention of what meetings we will attend, the opportunities for us to "ensure the student voice is heard", and so on, but not much on what we could reasonably expect to accomplish.

I have no doubt in my heart that the input of representatives is taken into account for decisions within the university. I absolutely believe that if your issue can be solved, it will be solved. However, the university will inevitably make compromises, and that will result in some people's problems not getting the response they deserve from the university. Despite this reality, I will not give up or ignore what you need. I promise that every issue will be raised, and will be treated as vital. I promise to fight as hard as possible, and then some, for what you need. I promise to be totally transparent with all of you about every step of the process.

If thats enough for you: great! I will stress that, if you are a student who isn't  straight, white, and English, and there's a candidate who better represents you in any of those ways, then you might be best off voting for them. And I'm serious, I am running because I want undergraduates to be properly represented, and to have their voices not just heard, but fought for. If I'm defeated, that means whoever won did a better job representing the makeup of this school. Or their manifesto was better. Hopefully the first one.
