Hi, I'm Megs (she/her), a post-graduate researcher in the School of Biological Sciences running to be your representative within the Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Life Sciences.
Having come up through the MHLS academic chain (microbiology undergrad and public health master's), I am only too aware of some of the academic difficulties faced within the faculty. I want to make sure that your views are heard and acted upon.
I am passionate about motivating learners (particularly within MHLS) and I want to pave the way for a well-rounded educational experience. Late feedback, assessment clumping, placement problems, supervisor issues, and course concerns can all derail your learning and research experience. If elected, I will work with you, your course and school reps, and QUB to tackle these and ensure your academic potential is not hindered.
As each learner is unique, there are also numerous social issues that can impact on your learning as well as your overall university experience. I aim to work alongside the relevant full-time and part-time QUBSU officers to address them.
PLEDGE
I will tackle:
- Inflexibile assessment approaches
- Placement issues (particularly within healthcare)
- Issues brought forward by students (both undergraduates and postgraduates)
I will promote:
- A robust research culture
- Educational wellbeing
- Best practice ideas and solutions
MHLS is filled to the brim with our future health practitioners and scientists and I will strive to empower you through dedicated representation.
