1. A safe space to speak
Not everyone feels comfortable speaking in front of others. I will be approachable for private, one-to-one conversations, where students can share their concerns, questions or suggestions. With their permission, I can raise these with the appropriate staff.
2. Student chats & knowledge sharing
I would like to organise informal chats where students can talk freely, share ideas and get to know each other. We can discuss our studies, research, university life or anything students are interested in. We can share our knowledge and learn from each other.
3. Support a better learning experience
I will listen to your feedback about teaching, practical sessions, assessments, resources and other aspects of your learning experience, and communicate common concerns to staff.
4. Encourage student opportunities
I will share information about useful opportunities such as workshops, research activities, careers events, volunteering, placements and other activities that could benefit postgraduate students.
5. Focus on practical change
I want to focus on issues that can actually be improved. I will raise students' concerns with the relevant staff, follow up where possible, and keep students informed about any progress.
My aim is simple: to listen to students, represent their views and help create a supportive and connected School of Biological Sciences where everyone has a chance to be heard and learn from each other.
