Got a new idea that could benefit student life at Queen’s or beyond?

Submitting an Idea - How it Works

Once you’ve clicked submit, your idea will follow one of three routes.

  • 1. Your idea is put into action

Your idea is simple and easy to implement without much consideration or further discussion.

  • 2. Your idea is put to an all-student vote

Your idea is a bit more complex and therefore the student body should have the opportunity to vote as to whether they agree it should be implemented.

Our ‘Proposal Support Committee’ will support you in shaping your idea up to become a ‘Proposal’ that all students will have the chance to vote on.

  • 3. Your idea is passed on to our Student Assembly

If your idea impacts particular groups within the student body, it will be discussed at a Student Assembly of students representative of the student population. They will help shape your idea before it goes to an all-student vote.

Online Voting - How it Works

Online voting is straightfoward:

  • You can vote once on each submitted idea. You can change your vote (for, against, or cancel your vote) during the voting period by clicking on the relevent 'arrow' image.
  • If you do not want to support or oppose an idea, you can just not vote on it.
  • If over 70 sudents vote on an idea, and 75% of them support the idea, it becomes something that the Students' Union will work on.
  • You can comment and make suggestions for each idea. These comments are not anonymous and comments are monitored. All commenters are required to adhere to the behaviour expectations of the QSU Social Media Policy and QUB Social Media Policy for Students.
  • Online Voting Rules

Voting is open to all full Student Members of the Students’ Union.

Otherwise, online votes shall be conducted in a free and fair manner, consistent with the Students’ Union Referendum Rules, save that the Union will not recognise any particular campaign teams, and will not provide printed publicity materials.
