Candidate for the position of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences (MHLS) Postgraduate Taught Faculty Representative

Oghenerukevwe Valerie Erivwode

Your voice, your faculty, our future

I am applying to be Faculty Representative because I believe students deserve representation that goes beyond simply passing on complaints. Good representation requires someone who listens, communicates effectively, follows through on concerns, and is willing to advocate for practical improvements to the student experience.

Through my previous experience in administrative support, research, and community health outreach, I have developed strong organisational and communication skills, as well as an appreciation for the importance of accountability and collaboration. I understand that representing others means being willing to listen to perspectives different from my own and ensuring that people’s concerns are not overlooked.

If elected, I will prioritise open communication between students and faculty, ensuring that feedback is conveyed constructively and that students are kept informed of relevant updates and decisions. I also hope to encourage greater collaboration among students, promote the sharing of useful academic resources, and help identify practical ways to improve our learning experience.

I recognise that effective representation is not simply about speaking on behalf of others, but about listening, following through on concerns, and remaining approachable and accountable. I would bring a willingness to learn, a commitment to service, and a genuine interest in making a positive contribution to our faculty.

Ultimately, I want to be a representative students feel comfortable approaching, confident that their concerns will be taken seriously and their voices heard. I would be honoured to serve as a reliable link between students and faculty and contribute to a more supportive, collaborative, and engaging academic environment.
