Student Association Chairperson

Student Associations are a new exciting way for students to become involved in the campaigning activities of the Students' Union.

Student Associations will replace our existing Part-Time Student Officer roles and provide more opportunities for more students to get involved in campaigning on issues that matter to them and on building communities.

Student Associations are student-led groups organised by student-led committees, which shall have access to Students’ Union funds and to be governed by the Rules of the Students’ Union.

Student Associations are recognised as the formal campaigning and community networks for underrepresented groups within the Students’ Union and are distinct from Societies, who have greater flexibility to undertake social activity and project-based activity.

The Student Associations are as follows:

  • Ethnically Diverse Students’ Association
  • Disabled Students’ Association
  • Environmental Action Students’ Association
  • International Students’ Association
  • Irish Language Students’ Association
  • LGBT+ Students’ Association
  • Mature and Part-Time Students’ Association
  • Trans Students’ Association
  • Student Parents’ and Carers’ Students’ Association
  • Women Students’ Association

QSU is looking for students to get involved in building and leading these new student groups.

Each Student Association has an Association Chairperson who is elected by students from that community.

The Association Chairperson leads their Association, supports a committee of students, is lead representative of their community within the Students' Union, is a member of the Students' Union Council and attends meetings of the Students' Union Executive Management Committee.

These voluntary, unpaid, positions run until 30 June, 2024.
