About

The Law Society is one of the largest and most popular academic societies on campus. Aimed primarily at the Law Students of Queen’s, the Law Society is a multi-faceted source of support and guidance. We were honoured to be named the Society of the Year at the QUBSU Awards of both 2016 and 2017. This year, we continually aim to champion our current members by enhancing their student experience at Queen’s.

We provide an inclusive and exciting social network for Law Society members, providing them with a variety of dynamic, entertaining events where they have the opportunity to form relationships with other students and industry professionals. The Law Society prides itself on being experienced in facilitating careers events and work opportunities for our members, particularly with large law firms from which we receive fantastic sponsorship and support. We work in close partnership with a wide variety of law firms and other organisations to enable members to take advantage of opportunities they offer on campus with both professional and social events. The Law Society endeavours to assist members as a source of academic guidance. In addition to a range of unparalleled, bespoke academic, social and career-related events, members are encouraged to get involved in continual charity work throughout the year. We allow our members to democratically select our charities for the year, and we always ensure that our fundraising schemes are inclusive and fun for our members.

The Law Society has formed prosperous relationships with other societies of legal-relevance across campus. We aim to host events that strengthen this relationship and ultimately ensure the employability of our members by facilitating an environment in which students can develop beyond what is offered within the School of Law. Additionally, we publish an annual Law Society magazine, the Verdict, featuring interviews with prominent figures, and articles on contemporary legal issues written and edited by our members.

We hope to have students from all over Queen’s join us for another great year of increasing diversity on campus, building upon our basis of friendship and striving to meet our common goal – that being to leave Queen’s University having had the best possible experience.

Winner of the QUBSU 'Society of the Year' Award in 2016 and 2017.

Our Mental Wellbeing Event was nominated for "Best Student Led Event of the Year" Award in 2023.
