The Senior Status Law Society is a student-led society for those studying the Senior Status Law programme at Queen’s University Belfast. As a smaller cohort, we want to make the most of our time at QUB by creating a welcoming community where students can meet, support one another and feel at home throughout their two years.

Our aim is to make the Senior Status experience both enjoyable and rewarding, with a mix of social, academic and professional opportunities throughout the year. From social events and networking opportunities to educational sessions and career-focused events, we want to create opportunities for students to connect with one another, meet alumni and hear from professionals working in different areas of law.

As many Senior Status students come to Belfast from Canada, the society also provides a space to build friendships and a sense of community while being away from home. At the same time, we welcome students from Northern Ireland and elsewhere, and hope to bring the whole cohort together.

We also recognise that everyone’s plans after QUB will look different. Whether you are hoping to return to Canada, qualify in Northern Ireland or England and Wales, pursue an LLM, or explore another path, we aim to provide guidance and opportunities that can help you make informed decisions about what comes next. This includes sharing information and experiences around the NCA process for Canadian students, as well as the routes to qualification across the UK and Ireland.

Above all, we want the society to be shaped by its members. Students are encouraged to suggest events, share ideas and get involved with the committee, helping us create a society that reflects what the Senior Status community actually wants and needs.

We hope to make your time at QUB a little more connected, supported and memorable.
