We do not thrive in spite of our differences, but because of them! As your BAME Students' Officer, I am proud to be the voice for our campus community in promoting and strengthening the diversity that has made QUB a terrific place for all students!
I am a Canadian citizen enrolled in QUB's Senior Status Law program. I hold a BA in Political Science with a minor in Women's Studies and a BA in Law & Society with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. I have worked as a policy advisor and consultant with Iraq's delegation to the United Nations from 2015 to 2017, and assisted in the 2016-2019 UN Human Rights Council campaign. I feel grateful to be able to share my experience and to be in the service of a terrific student body which has made me feel welcome and valued. I am excited to share with you a number of initiatives as part of my plan to be your BAME Students' Officer:
-Conversations with Friends: a number of Teams and/or Zoom sessions will be held where students can feel welcome to join and meet new friends and fellow pupils and to learn about one another's cultures and how they process their persona experiences.
-Monthly articles regarding contemporary issues of importance related to legal and political developments that affect issues relating to inclusivity, diversity and social stability, particularly as they relate to BAME issues will be shared to keep our community informed on the issues that affect you and the people you care about.
-Game, trivia and movie nights will be organized for interested students and everyone can feel welcome to make suggestions which will be coordinated with those attending. In our current state of extended lockdown(s), meeting others in a relaxed environment where fun is the focus is a welcome repreieve!
