Community. Communication. Change-Making!
Hey Y'all! I'm Asha Marie, a first year postgrad from Greenville, South Carolina studying Public History in HAPP!
As the Student Body President of my undergrad last year, I advocated for the voices of underrepresented students while serving the entire student body. Working as a campus changemaker, I did whatever it took to stand for social justice, equity, and inclusion on campus through creative problem solving. I want to share my unique perspective as an international student, person of color, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and be a part of making postive change for our student body. We could use better communication across campus, better logistical planning for events (Did you like standing in that long line for freshers fair for over an hour?? Me neither!), and more ways for postgraduates to feel like they have their own distinct community within QUB. As a postgrad representative, I will have no problem speaking truth to power-- your concerns are my concerns too! And I'll make sure we do our best to make life for postgrads at QUB better. Afterall-- most of us are only here for a year anyway... might as well leave this place a little bit better than how we found it & have some fun while we're at it! :)
