Dariya Mariya Petryshyn

Hello!

My name is Dariya Petryshyn and I am in my final year at Queen's University, studying in the LLB Senior Status Program. I am an international student from Canada and I am hoping to be your Faculty Representative for the 2022-2023 academic year.

I am running for this position because I want to represent you the students! As a natural born leader, I know that I would be the perfect choice for this position. Right now I am the Vice-President of the QUB Law Society, a NUS-USI Steering Committee member and last year was a councillor for the QUBSU, where I was able to voice my opinions on behalf of students about various points the Student Union Executive were hoping to accomplish, including questioning various motions amongst other things.

I am asking for your confidence in electing me for this Faculty Representative Role because I plan on representing YOUR interests and making sure that your first, second, final, whatever the case may be, year is the best it can be and that any issues you have or any problems that arise, are dealt with accordingly and actual progress is made. My promise to you, the student body of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) Undergraduate programmes is that by electing me, your concerns will not go unnoticed. I will hold biweekly drop in sessions for all students who would like to voice a concern, having an annonymous complaint portal available so you can submit concerns whenever you please. I will ensure that within your respectful programmes, the School Representatives, Course Representatives and other Student Union Representatives will know exactly how to deal with any concerns you may have and I will be adament about the need for prompt solutions. Your voice will be heard; you will be a part of the decisions and I will aim to ensure that your educational experience is not tarnished or ruined. Further I hope to partner with various mental health clubs and groups on campus to show you the student body that we care and we are here for you. Your concerns will be taken to the most serious extent and will be addressed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

My promise in the end is that your concerns, complaints and questions will be addressed and heard at each of the Student Union meetings this upcoming year and where a solution is not possible for whatever reason, alternative options will be sought out.

Thank you for considering me for this position and I look forward to the possibility of being your faculty representative for this academic year.
