Hi guys!
I'm Eoin. I'm doing a Masters in History this year in Queen's, and I'd love to represent you as your AHSS faculty rep.
I served as a course rep in Trinity College Dublin Student's Union during my undergraduate and moved on to other things within the union. I was surrounded by extremely dedicated, talented people who cared deeply about the student body and their concerns.
Right now, we're looking at a situation where postgraduate students are paying huge sums of money to experience an incomplete student experience. We have less social opportunities, have higher expectations on us, and there's a significant lack of support surrounding issues like strikes within the university. The union (rightly) supports those strikes but we need structure and certainty to get the most out of our time as taught postgraduates.
Right now, postgraduate students are paying more than they've ever had to pay before to get access to education. At the same time, thanks to barriers totally outside of our control, the quality of our education is declining. It feels as if there's a lack of understanding of the issues facing postgraduates within the university and the public more broadly.
I want to ensure that we all have the ability to structure our years here at Queen's with certainty and confidence. I can back this up with experience within college organisations and student unions.
Please vote for me and that we can work to make our time at Queen's rewarding and memorable.
