Unpaid carers save Northern Ireland’s health and social care system £5.8 billion a year in care costs. This invisible workforce is unrecognised, undervalued, unpaid. Carers Northern Ireland strives to make carers’ lives better and for a Northern Ireland that protects, supports and recognises carers for their outstanding contribution to society.
For nearly 60 years, Carers Northern Ireland has worked to make life better for 1000s of unpaid carers.
Our lobbying activity has placed 220,000 carers at the heart of the government’s adult social care reform programme.
This will benefit the lives of carers and future carers for decades to come, and 70% of us will feel this benefit.
We will build on this success to work to alleviate the poverty, poor health, loneliness and isolation so many carers experience. We will continue our fight for fairness, equality and quality of life for unpaid carers.
