Abortion was decriminalised in NI in 2019 but we are still massively lacking in services, meaning many people are still having to travel to England for healthcare that should be accessible to all. There is also still stigma and miseducation around abortion and reproductive health, and we want to change this.
Our events include protests (such as Reclaim the Night and ROSA events), talks and education sessions from organisations like Derry for Choice, craft sessions where we make placards and “chalk out” our protests outside the SU, and of course socials such as movie nights, pub outings and karaoke.
Everyone is always welcome (including cisgender men!) and we wholeheartedly stand with the transgender community, disabled community, refugees, people of colour, and we are fiercely pro-Palestine.
No knowledge or experience of abortion care is needed, just an interest in reproductive freedom. We’re a group of like-minded, friendly students and we’d love to have you on board!
