The English Society is a place for all bookworms and storytellers or anyone who has an interest in the subject! We host famous events like our Poetry & Pints nights which are a must for any English student, as well as hangouts, pub quizzes, pub crawls, free book collections and swaps, bookmark making, and our annual charity formal among many others. We also run the Gorgon magazine to share the literary talent of the Queens community.
We work in close contact with Belfast arts and culture events and often collab with other societies. We’re a hub for any avid readers or writers of all stripes, a platform to share your own creative work and a space for anybody with similar interests to just make friends!
Have your say - or even take part - in how the English Society is run next year by voting or nominating yourself for the 2026/27 committee! Joining a society committee is incredibly valuable in making new friends, boosting your confidence and building skills for future employment. All you have to do is complete your nomination online and you could be running the society, organising events, or making social media content to reach members. Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be on the 23rd when voting closes, so we hope to see you there also to find out who'll be on the committee next year and have your say on changes to our constitution!
