The Film society is a place for all of you film enthusiasts, from avid watchers to talented filmmakers and screenwriters and everything in between. We have lots of film related events throughout the year including screenings, quiz nights and guest speakers. Our social medias are always active with recommendations, job opportunities, film bracket tournaments, and so much more.
We work closely with our fellow societies and the local film industry (both UK and ROI) to host various workshops and talks throughout the year. These workshops will cover several different areas such as screenwriting, directing, cinematography, stop motion, adapting literature to film, etc. Our aim is to give you a place to learn new things, get feedback and hone your skills whilst offering an unmissable chance for members to meet and question some experts.
As a society we aim to:
- Place a focus on accessibility, health and safety above all else (many of our events will be virtual and available to all)
- Be a safe space for everyone, regardless of taste, background or ability - there is a place for everyone on the silver screen and there is a place for everyone in the Film Society
- Be an approachable and lively community to make friends with people with similar interests
- Be a safe and unjudgmental platform for to share your own films/screenplays/ideas as well as your reviews of existing films
We want to help create and bring together a new film culture amongst Belfast students. Come join us and you can meet people who share the same passion you do. Follow us on our social media accounts to keep up to date on future events and projects. We hope you consider joining our crew - please email us at filmsociety@qub.ac.uk if you have any questions
