Welcome to the Medical Humanities Society! We are a society of like-minded people whose goal is to explore how literature, philosophy, ethics, history, art, and much more influence and are influenced by the ever-evolving world of medicine.

We aim to bring students from all academic backgrounds together. Whether you're a healthcare student looking to rediscover a love for the humanities, or a non-healthcare student looking to engage with how ideas surrounding medicine and health have touched every aspect of our history and exerted a profound influence over our creative output, this is the society for you! Join us to meet like-minded people, engage in fulfilling debate, and (most importantly) have some fun!

We're really looking forward to meeting you this year at our events which include:

• Monthly Book Club - Join us for our monthly book club, where we look at both fiction and non-fiction texts and use them as a springboard to consider some of the big questions. Should doctors be held to a higher moral standard than the general public? How do we reconcile the frequently shocking and often downright uncomfortable history of medicine with a modern professional body that espouses empathy and autonomy? Can there ever really be such a thing as a 'good' death? Join us in our attempt to answer this questions, and more!
• Presentation Nights - Is there a particular subject at the intersection of medicine and the humanities that you feel passionate about? Our open presentation nights offer you a welcoming platform to share your ideas and interests with your peers, and hopefully spark some engaging debate!
• Medical Move Nights - Join us for a fun evening combining movies and medicine!
• Semesterly Newsletter - Do you want to engage in your own research, or share your poems, critical articles, and essays with others? Our semesterly newsletter will be sent out to all members and offers to low-stakes opportunity for you to share you work with like-minded people and dip your toe into the world of the academic medical humanities!
• Collaborative Events - This year the Medical Humanities Society will be teaming up with some of your other favourite medical and humanities societies to deliver some engaging evenings - watch this space!
