About

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of maxing out on the Big 3 lifts, Squat, Bench Press, and the Deadlift. It is a sport that is beautiful, breathtaking and at times grippingly barbaric.

Our Powerlifting Club focuses on health, wellbeing and just general great craic through this strength sport. We encourage people to express themselves through lifting weights and slamming plates. Powerlifting is a great way to relax and get away from stressful work.

We have experienced spotters for support at every training session along with proven competitors who can keep you right from day 1. There will be opportunities to compete in actual certified competitions such as the IrishPF University Championships, the British University Championships and other competitions, for example, rookie competitions. With all the experience and support available, there is even potential for talent to go international.

The club only formed last year (2021), however, many of the members have already had the chance to compete in an Irish Powerlifting Open. We have a great group of existing members ranging from 1st years to alumni in which there are members from different backgrounds, ethnicities and genders who are of a wide range of weight classes and experience levels, from beginners to certified competitors. We are also open to different forms of strength training as members have also trained CrossFit, callisthenics, bodybuilding (etc.) during sessions.

We strive to be even more diverse than we already are as we encourage everyone to give the sport a go and join our incredibly welcoming community. No matter where you’re from or who you are, we look forward to seeing you at our weekly sessions

(The venue and schedule will be confirmed at a later date)
