Women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world and with the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup having taken place in Ireland there is no better time to ‘give rugby a try’. At QUBLRFC we have signed a charter with 20x20.ie to promote more women's particpation in sport and promote more coverage of womens sports.

At QUBLRFC we have two teams playing in differnent leagues and levels.
Our 1st XV play in Divison 1 (premiership) and in the new Energia Community Series which is a branch off from the AIL.
Our 2nd XV formed in 2019 and is aimed at beginners to rugby, playing in Ulster's championship B league.

We currently train together at the DUB (upper Malone playing fields) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm-8:30pm on pitch 8.

We love to use any excuse for team-bonding activities, including: trips to We Are Vertigo, attending various rugby tournaments, going to watch Women’s Ulster rugby matches and various socials. The highlights during the year include the illusive Rugby Formal, Club Dinner and a trip to Dublin to watch Ireland's women in the six nations.

Rugby is a contact team sport, played between two teams of 15 players with seven/eight substitutes. Players in each team are divided into eight forwards and seven backs. Forwards are responsible for gaining and retaining possession of the ball. They are generally bigger and stronger and take part in the scrum and line-out. The back’s role is to create and convert point-scoring opportunities. They are generally smaller, faster and more agile than the forwards. This makes rugby an ideal sport for players of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical health and be part of a team (more like an extended family!).

We welcome players of all abilities and your safety is our priority. Our aim is to refine your basic rugby skills before moving into more complex set pieces and teaching you all the laws of the game.
