About

We run a fun and engaging programme focusing on promoting a positive image of the healthcare profession to children as well as promoting healthy lifestyle from an early age. We send students into schools, youth clubs and after school clubs to actively work and teach with young children.

What do our workshops involve?

Our hour long interactive lesson based in the classroom involves around 6-8 medical students carrying out 4 ten minute interactive sessions based on:

  • Healthy eating- we have some fun games to get the students to differentiate between healthy/unhealthy foods
  • Healthy Bones- we have some bones and mini skeletons which we use to play a game asking students what they think each bone is and then focus on how we can keep our bones healthy
  • Physical Activity- we have some classroom based physical activity exercises and will then discuss why this is important
  • Trip to the Doctor- at this point we would ask the children to get their teddy bears and we will provide some toy medical sets and get the students to act as 'teddy doctors' and try and treat their teddies, we will also have some real medical equipment (stethoscopesetc) to show the children and explain why the doctor would use these to try and decrease their fear of going to the doctor.
