Underwater hockey, or octopush, is a unique team sport played with short sticks and a puck at the bottom of the pool. Players wear fins, a mask, a snorkel, a protective glove and water polo hat. The teams are mixed-sex which ensures everyone can have a go. The stick is short, approximately a foot long, the puck is heavy, around 1.2 kg, and the goal is 3 meters long. It is a very niche game in that it is 3-dimensional and requires you to play while holding your breath. It'll make a lot more sense if you check out our videos and social media sites to help you visualise it!
We compete at the intervasity student nationals in England every year over the course of a weekend and train throughout the academic year.
Sessions take place every monday at 8pm in the PEC pool, just make sure that you bring a swimsuit/trunks!
