My Manifesto
Reduce Deadline Clashes
As a school whos disciplines are primarily essay based, deadline clashes can make students workloads very stressful at points of the year. Understandably, it is not always possible to start essays weeks or even a month in advance in order to spread the workload due to the material required not being covered yet. I wish to work with the school to reduce the amount of deadline clashes across modules, to help students have sufficient time to produce each piece of work and to be able to consistantly perform at their best.
Set Feedback Dates
I propose that modules should establish set feedback dates for assesments, that would be visable on module homepages on canvas. Students work tirelessly to make deadlines yet wait weeks to recieve any feedback, often not knowing how long this waiting period can be. Set feedback dates would ensure that feedback is recieved with sufficient time to understand and be able to develop upon before following assesments are due, as well as establishing expectations and accountability at the start of the module for both the students and the staff members.
Inprove Cross-Discipline Communication
For both dual honours students and those engaging in multi-disciplinary modules, navigating across different disciplines can be challanging at times; especially when expectations and requiremetns are treated as assumed knowledge. I aim to improve communication between the different disciplines in the school and ensure module pages have the resources needed to understand the skills, essay requirements and marking approaches of the different disciplines within the school.
Increase Visibility and Support for Societies
I wish to improve interactions between the school and HAPP based societies in order to build and develop a community setting. I propose the school supports such societies by promoting and supporting events, providing societies an opportunity to speak and self-promote at first year compulsory modules and inviting society representatives to student voice meetings.
