Hello!! My name is Maria and I am a second year Pharmacy student. From being a course rep for the past two years, I have seen the positive impact the school rep has made for students in the school of Pharmacy which has encouraged me to run for the position.
Being a member of the student voice committee since beginning my studies at Queen's has given me the opportunity to see first hand the positive impact and influence the School of Pharmacy representative has on the well being of students and has inspired me to run for the role of the undergraduate school of pharmacy representative. I want to make a positive impact to all students studying Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology alongside all other students at Queen's.
All students should have their voice heard and be able to address any problems they may have no matter how small they may be. My goal is to make a positive impact to university life for all students and to bring the student voice forward at a higher level to ensure everyone gets the correct teaching and resources needed for their course. I want to bridge the gap between lecturers and students so that issues developing can be resolved quickly so that students feel at ease and have a positive university experience. From being part of societies at Queen's, including the student voice committee, my confidence has increased and I can see the efforts students and university staff put in to ensure everyone has an enjoyable university experience.
Within the school of Pharmacy, I would like to raise all worries and concerns of fellow students so that they can be resolved, ensuring future cohorts of students don’t have to deal with the same issues which leaves their life a lot easier. This would include making sure lecture recordings are available for all students because some students may have to miss a lecture and by having lecture recordings this ensures the same teaching for each year group and they are also there for revision at the end of the year when our exams come around.
