Hi! I am Tulika, a second-year medical student. As someone who has regularly attended and thoroughly enjoyed Peer-2-Peer teaching sessions and the (absolute class) clinical summaries (which have played such an active part in my revision for the progress test), I would love to be part of such a wonderful society.
I have a profound passion for both education and teaching and getting involved with IMS will enable me to pursue these passions further. I am also super eager to pursue Internal Medicine Training in the future and in the last 2 years of medical school I have become fascinated by the complexity of diseases and the ways in which they can be diagnosed and treated.
Here are some of the experiences I have that would make me successful in my roles:
-I have worked as a media officer at UKMSA posting and designing eye-catching infographics regularly and making educational posts related to a wide range of medical specialties.
-I have served as a Donor Recruitment officer at Belfast Marrow. This job requires loads of administrative duties including ordering supplies, arranging drives around campus and the city, communicating with student members about upcoming events, liaising with volunteers, and taking meeting minutes.
-Appointed Events Coordinator at CardioSoc. A future education event has been planned for this year - an in-person pre-clinical cardiology teaching for Y1s. The presentations will be given by myself and some Y3 and Y4s. This is something that I would wish to see come true in the future with IMS, to have some webinars conducted in person and in the process creating a more engaging and personal clinical teaching environment.
Overall, I believe in the ethos of IMS: "by students, for the students" and I wish to take part in this society and continue with its impacts on students' understanding and revision of core concepts. P.S. I also absolutely love creating aesthetic educational infographics.
