Candidate for the position of Pakistani Society - President (Chairperson)

My fellow students, as a candidate for the position of President of the Pakistani Society at Queen's University Belfast, I, Ahmad Kabir, present this manifesto outlining my vision and plans for the society. With my extensive experience as the Head Boy during A levels and my continuous five-year tenure as the President of the Debating and Model United Nations (MUN) Society, I am committed to leading our society towards greater heights. Together, we will celebrate our rich culture, foster unity, and support the academic and personal growth of our members. Vote for progress, unity, and excellence with Ahmad Kabir.

 

1. Cultural Celebrations:

a. Organize a diverse range of cultural events, including traditional festivals, music nights, and food fairs, to showcase the rich tapestry of Pakistani culture. These events will allow us to share our heritage, promote cross-cultural understanding, and celebrate the beauty of our traditions.

b. Collaborate with other cultural societies on campus to host joint events, fostering connections and promoting cultural exchange.

 

2. Academic Support:

a. Leverage my experience in the Debating and MUN Society to establish a mentorship program within the Pakistani Society. This program will connect senior students, including myself, with incoming Pakistani students, providing them with guidance, support, and advice regarding academics, campus life, and career planning.

b. Organize academic workshops, seminars, and panel discussions, featuring prominent Pakistani professionals and academics, to create opportunities for knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking.

 

3. Social Welfare Initiatives:

a. Utilize our society's platform to initiate and participate in community service projects that address social issues both locally and internationally. This will include collaborating with local charities, organizing fundraising events, and volunteering programs, enabling us to make a tangible impact on society.

b. Organize health and well-being workshops to promote mental health awareness, stress management, and self-care among our members, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

 

4. Professional Development:

a. Channel my experience as the Head Boy during A levels and my continuous involvement in the Debating and MUN Society to arrange workshops and seminars on topics such as resume building, interview skills, and networking. These initiatives will equip our members with the necessary tools for their future careers.

b. Establish strategic partnerships with local businesses and organizations to facilitate internships, job placements, and mentorship opportunities exclusively for the members of our society.

 

5. Sports and Recreation:

a. Promote a healthy and active lifestyle by organizing sports tournaments, friendly matches, and fitness sessions, encouraging participation from all skill levels. These initiatives will not only contribute to physical well-being but also create a sense of camaraderie and unity among our members.

b. Arrange outdoor activities and trips to explore the natural beauty of Northern Ireland, providing opportunities for relaxation, rejuvenation, and bonding among society members.

 

6. Collaboration and Outreach:

a. Utilize my experience as the President of the Debating and MUN Society to establish strong connections with other student societies at Queen's University Belfast. Through collaboration on joint events and initiatives, we will foster a sense of unity and inclusivity across various cultural groups.

b. Actively engage with the wider university community through participation in university-wide events, forums, and discussions, ensuring that the voice of the Pakistani Society is heard and represented.
