COST OF LIVING SUPPORT
Slash postgrad costs now! Unveil real expenses, expose private loan burdens, and demand more research funds. Students shouldn’t have to work 30+ hours outside of their studies or be forced to use food banks. The pantry, free breakfasts, and warm-up events work – let's make it big! Affordable housing is a must. Revive the housing coop campaign, expand QUB accommodation options, and beef up the Accommodation bursary, Student Support Fund and the University Financial Assistance Fund. Stormont's back, let's lobby against tuition fees increases and push the Department for Economy for affordable postgrad education!
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Let's unite postgrads! Our mental health is suffering due to isolation from the wider student community. Let’s transform our research culture into an active, green campus with a united community. We need Wednesday afternoons protected for clubs and societies, a program of weekend activities and welcome events which establish friendships.
CLIMATE ACTION
Stop funding the climate crisis! Our fees fuel the problem! QUB’s investing with BlackRock, a company who has invested over £205 BILLION in fossil fuels. Massive props to the decolonise, demilitarise, and democratise QUB referendum for mandating action – it’s time to go further. Demand fossil fuel divestment now!
BETTER MENTAL HEALTH
Boost mental health now! 2022/23 OMNI survey shows 85% worry about your mental health. Key to fighting this is cutting living costs, creating a strong community, and ramping up free Inspire counselling. Ease PGT stress with clear, high quality resources and uni-wide lecture recordings. Let's thrive, not just survive!
ACADEMIC REP REFORM
Fight for change! Reform the academic rep system—PG Research and PG Taught need their own school reps. As EPS faculty rep, I've seen the disconnect hurting our academic representation. Let's push for autonomy through the SU democracy review. Different problems, different experiences, one solution: representation for all!

Education is a right, not a privilege. It should be accessible, inclusive, and carry a positive social impact. Postgraduate students are being failed, grappling with the burden of the cost of living, feeling excluded from the university community, and experiencing overwhelming stress, whilst our fees are funding fossil fuels and genocide.
Postgraduate students make up 25% of the student body. A student body with a voice; that should be at the heart of all University decisions, and this year, we are going to make them hear us!
