We matter - a voice for those voices often unheard: empowering and elevating the student parent and carer community through advocacy, action, partnership, and change
As a student parent myself, having personally navigated the demands of parenting through completing an undergraduate degree, a masters degree, and currently pursuing a PhD, I understand firsthand the unique challenges we face pursuing higher education while having caring responsibilities. I recognise how vital support systems, resources, and policy accommodations are to enable student parents and carers to advance academically. If elected as the Chairperson for the Parents' and Carers' Students’ Association, I pledge to leverage my experience to be a passionate advocate and leader for student parents and carers across campus.
My priorities will be:
- Campaign on issues affecting student parents and carer experiences, using my role to raise awareness and drive change around access, inclusion, and support services.
- Coordinating closely with the association's committee to lead initiatives responding to student parent and carer needs and concerns. My goal is to amplify the student parent and carer voice so we are truly seen, heard, and helped.
- Building partnerships across campus to expand academic, wellness, networking, and funding opportunities available to student parents and carers. I want to open doors and break down barriers.
- Representing student parent and carers interests to the university's executive management and Student Union Council.
As called for in the union’s constitution, I am prepared to provide consistent reports on the association's activities and my leadership. I will complete all required Students' Union trainings and be an engaged, voting member of key decision-making bodies.
It would be my highest honour to serve my fellow student-parents as association Chairperson. If elected, I promise to be a tireless champion for our community. Please place your trust in me to fight for the support and voice every student parent and carer deserves.
