Beyond Borders, Towards Awareness: International Students Making a Difference!

Dear Fellow Students,

I am Mohit Wardhe, a Queen's University Belfast MSc Management student. As an international student, I'm committed to addressing our unique challenges. It gives me great pleasure to present my proposal for the Queen's University Belfast Student Union's International Students Association Chairperson position. As an applicant for this important position, I'm dedicated to creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for our multicultural community of international students.

To enhance student life, I'll focus on key areas vital to our international student community's unique needs:

  1. Inclusive Networking: Create a meaningful connection between students by organising events that will engage the global community.
  2. Advocacy for Student Needs: Make sure that international students' voices are heard and that their particular difficulties with university administration are addressed by speaking out on their behalf.
  3. Streamlined Procedures: Take steps to improve the effectiveness of the application procedures, guaranteeing a smooth and easy-to-use experience for overseas students, and making it simpler for them to obtain opportunities and vital resources.
  4. Enhancement of Careers: Create connections and programmes that increase international students' employability while offering worthwhile chances for professional growth.
  5. Safety Assurance: Work with law enforcement to resolve safety issues and make sure that international students are in a safe environment both on and off campus.
  6. Team for Crisis Response: To coordinate support services during crises, assemble a specialised crisis response team made up of university employees, mental health specialists, and student representatives.

Here's what I see the International Student Association doing in the future:

  • Work closely with the university administration to address the unique challenges faced by international students, including accommodation, academic support, and visa matters.
  • Collaborate with career services to offer specialised workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities that will increase the employability of international students.
  • Provide an opportunity for open discussions where international students can share their concerns and ideas and have their needs considered.
  • Plan special gatherings for overseas students to encourage friendships, invite former international students from Queen's to speak as special guests, and offer their perspectives on overcoming obstacles and creating a community of support.
  • Advocating for International Student Events through Student Union Support to Enhance Awareness.
  • In order to address international students' safety concerns and guarantee a safe environment both on and off campus, work with campus security and local authorities.

My goal is to establish a lively, welcoming community where each and every international student feels appreciated and encouraged. Your backing will undoubtedly enable me to guide the International Students Association in the direction of a more solid and rewarding experience for everybody.

Thank you for taking a look at my application.
