Muhammad Hamza Shah

I'm Hamza, a final-year medical student, and I am honored to put myself forward for the role of President of Belfast Marrow. My involvement with Belfast Marrow has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, reinforcing my passion for supporting life-saving stem cell donations. Over the course of past several years in medical school and through my work in oncological research, I have gained a better understanding of the issues facing cancer care, particularly in the treatment and care of cancer patients. This experience has highlighted the role that ethical considerations and collaborative efforts play in advancing patient outcomes—principles that are at the heart of Belfast Marrow’s mission.

Furthermore, leading initiatives such as the Bioethics and Medical Humanities Initiative and serving as President of the QUB Medical Ethics Society have also allowed me to practically engage with the aforementioned ethical challenges we face in medicine. Similarly, my role as Vice President of QUB Mind Matters taught me the importance of leading with empathy, integrity, and a commitment to listening. Consequently, these leadership experiences have prepared me to guide Belfast Marrow with a strong focus on ethical responsibility and compassionate care.

Looking ahead, I am committed to applying the insights and skills I’ve developed to help us expand our fundraising efforts and strengthen our support for the dedicated volunteers who drive our mission forward. I fully recognize that the success of Belfast Marrow relies on the dedication and passion of our team, and I am eager to contribute my experience to help us make a lasting impact.
