Manifesto for International Student Representative
Empowering Voices, Building Bridges
Hello! I’m Henry Antonius, and I am excited to stand for the position of International Student Representative at Queen's University Belfast. Having lived in six different countries and attended post-secondary institutions in five, I understand firsthand the challenges and opportunities of being an international student. I understand what it is to be in a new country figuring out where to sleep, how to use transit, and which restaurant to go to. My journey has taught me the importance of community, support, and representation and that’s why I feel I can do some good for the international student community.
Key Priorities:
-
Advocacy and Representation
I will be your voice in the Student Union Council, ensuring that the unique needs of international students are addressed. Together, we can tackle issues such as immigration, mental health, and academic support, making sure no one feels overlooked.
-
Cultural Integration
Having experienced diverse cultures, I am passionate about creating programs that celebrate our backgrounds while promoting interaction with local students. I love meeting people from different backgrounds and I believe we can all have some fun together.
-
Access to Resources
I will work diligently to ensure international students have easy access to essential resources be it academic support, housing assistance, or financial guidance. I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate a new environment, and I want to help ease that transition.
-
Mental Health and Wellbeing
Mental health is crucial, especially when adapting to a new culture. I will advocate for tailored mental health initiatives that resonate with our diverse experiences, creating a supportive network where everyone feels safe to share and seek help.
-
Feedback and Engagement
I will establish regular forums and surveys to gather your feedback. Your experiences matter deeply to me, and I will work to turn your suggestions into actual change. Together, we can build a strong community.
Let’s Make a Difference Together!
I am dedicated to representing our vibrant international community and ensuring that each student thrives at Queen’s. I hope you allow me to be a bridge between us a students and the school.
