Your Voice, Our Change

Hi! My name is Saffy and here is my manifesto!

I am excited to stand for the position of AHSS Postgraduate Taught Faculty Representative. As a current Master's student in Criminology and Criminal Justice, my passion lies in uniting postgraduate taught students, cultivating a sense of community, and making our voices heard throughout the university. My role as a student volunteer Assistant Editor on the Social Science Student Journal has illustrated me the power of collaboration and the importance in amplifying student perspectives and shaping our educational experiences.

Experience and Vision

As PGT students, we face unique challenges, ranging from navigating advanced coursework to balancing personal and academic commitments. I want to make sure that the faculty reflects our collective experiences and concerns, and that every student has the opportunity to enhance our learning environment.

My experiences have prepared me to:

  • Listen and Represent: My goal is to actively collect feedback from PGT students, making sure to address issues related to teaching, assessment, and resources.
  • Build a Community: I am eager to create opportunities for PGT students across the faculty to come together, share ideas, and support each other. Whether through regular forums, workshops, or social events, I believe in the importance of building networks that enhance both academic and social experiences.
  • Amplify Voices: I am committed to working with school and course representatives to ensure that every student’s voice is amplified at faculty-level meetings. I believe that meaningful change can happen when we work together, and I will strive to ensure that our feedback leads to tangible improvements in the PGT experience.

My Priorities

  1. Enhance the Student Experience: I want to work on initiatives that improve access to resources, research support, and professional development opportunities for all PGT students.
  2. Promote communication and transparency: I will make sure that students receive timely and accessible communication about discussions and decisions made at faculty meetings.
  3. Strengthen the Community: I will promote collaboration between students from different disciplines within the AHSS Faculty, fostering a stronger sense of community among us.

As your representative, I am dedicated to ensuring that our voices are not just heard but also acted upon. Together, we can make the PGT experience more rewarding and inclusive.

Thank you for your support!

Saffy
