As a faculty, EPS is a leader in innovation; we need to be as innovative in our teaching as we are in our research! Far too many schools are ignoring the exam & feedback timetable, failing to supply students with mark schemes and failing to record lectures. Vote Niamh Bone!
From my QUB undergrad to my masters, I've been involved in student politics at queens for quite some time... in fact I've held every position from course rep, school rep, faculty rep, student councillor and even SU management board member. So it's fair to say I have some experience in how the SU rep system works! I show up for you every time.
As a council member, we had great success in forming the Pantry; as course rep, i've pushed for the reconsideration of unfair marking practice; as faculty rep in FEB meetings with the dean, we've seen the institution of exam & marking timetabling - it's time for an enforcement of those commitments.
My three main academic points of action as faculty rep for this year are:
- working with the UCU to deliver lecture recordings for all students
- holding schools to account on exam and feedback timetabling commitments
- ensuring every student has access to the materials needed to ensure academic success including mark schemes.
As faculty rep you also sit on student council, where a range of issues are discussed and a champion of environmental issues, I've been involved in everything from being president of the Queens Climate Action Network society this year (please join us) to a decorated member to surf club. I' co-chaired last year's Earth day rally but also taken an academic approach to activism as Geography Society president in my undergrad, where I reestablished The Graticule, an undergraduate student journal.
All this is to say if you want a passionate and involved Faculty rep with experience delivering for you- I'm your woman so vote!
