Katie Ní Chléire

Hi! I'm Katie. I’m running for Welfare because I have lived experience of having a mental illness at Queen’s and I don’t want any other student to go through what I did. Your university prioritises profits over student wellbeing, and I’ve had enough. We deserve better - better services, support, houses and health. I’m going to work hard to make that a reality for you, because your mental health matters more.

Hi! I'm Katie and I'm running to be YOUR Welfare Officer!
Is mise Katie, agus táim ag rith chun a bheith mar BHUR nOifigeach Leasa!

My priorities are:

  • I will fight for better mental health services to support students when they need it most.

  • I will reform the exceptional circumstances process to make it fairer for students.

  • I will fight for better rights and support for students on placement.

  • I will do outreach to help tackle student loneliness

  • I will introduce free sanitary products and contraceptives to more bathrooms on campus.

  • I will fight illegal letting fees, campaign for improved housing and oppose off-campus discipline.

  • I will develop e-learning modules on Canvas for welfare-related issues, including consent, sexual health, mental health and housing.
