Hi, my name is Somaiya and I’m running to be Treasurer for Belfast Marrow. Having worked with Belfast Marrow previously and volunteered in their various events, I am keen on being involved further with the society and supporting Anthony Nolan. Being treasurer for Belfast Marrow means I will be able to utilise my skills and experience to ensure the society thrives whilst ensuring we’re using the resources available to fundraise and recruit as many donors as possible. Whilst treasurer I will work closely with the rest of the committee to build budgets and plans for different fundraising events, campaigns and donor recruitment events. Whilst collaborating and supporting the committee for events I will ensure financial transparency and accurate budgeting through my strong organisational skills, which I’ve utilised whilst being treasurer for Dundee Marrow as well. Being treasurer I will collaborate efficiently with the relevant committee members to have a financial strategy suited to the society’s needs and goals including providing regular financial updates to the committee and help organise effective fundraising donor recruitment. I will be a strong team player as I have done so while being the Charities and Fundraising Officer for QUB Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society to collaborate and successfully raise funds for Target Ovarian Cancer whilst also working together to plan and run events. I hope to bring these skills and experience in the role as treasurer and ensure finance is not a barrier in our efforts supporting Anthony Nolan.
