About me:

I am Adam, and I am currently a 2nd year medicinal chemistry student and I ran to be a member of the student voice committee this year as I wanted to have an impact on what happened during my degree and stand up for continuously pursing a better future, as to me the only way things will ever change is if we (the students) decide to make things change. I want to know what everybody wants and how everybody is doing in the course so we can find a common ground for everybody to achieve, thrive and ultimately enjoy their time in the course.

What I have done:

  • Put forward all feedback received, positive and negative to the lecturers and heads of the course
  • Worked alongside students to solve personal issues they are facing in the course
  • Extending tight deadlines
  • Putting forward ideas to try and ease the pressure such as suggesting workshops on key skills needed
  • Putting together revision classes for level 2 chemistry
  • Proposed ideas for the future of the course and how things could be changed to better connect with people’s personal preferences to give a better range of options

What I hope to do:

  • Fight for your ideas and rights in the course so nobody feels isolated or estranged
  • Deal personally with issues that may worry you
  • Secure a better future for all that continue or enter this course
  • Collate with the other student reps and the union to see what could be done better and identify problems before they become large
  • Ensure information is given to all students in each module within a reasonable time frame
  • Be a proud voice for all chemistry, medicinal chemists and chemical engineers as a point of contact and advice regarding university and personal issues when you may not know who else to approach
