SU Drawing Room

Got a favourite item of clothing that needs a little TLC? Want to learn a practical life skill, save money, and help reduce textile waste?

Join us for Mend with Sue, a fun, hands-on workshop led by award-winning environmental artist Sue Bamford from Tools for Solidarity. Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some sewing experience, Sue will guide you through a range of repair and upcycling techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Bring a garment that needs fixing, renovating or remaking, and in these hands-on sessions you will be shown practical mending skills, and offered advice on how to care for your wardrobe through repair and reuse. Materials will be provided. This is a great opportunity to take a break from your studies, get creative, meet other students, and learn skills that benefit both your budget and the environment.

The workshops are free to attend, but spaces are limited. If you register and can no longer make it, please let us know, as we expect to have a waiting list. Students can book for one or both sessions as this runs for 2 weeks.

Resist the siren call of consumerism and overconsumption, one garment at a time, through the mindful act of repairing and upcycling your clothing.

If you have any dietary requirements, access needs, or questions, email us

If your clothing needs a specific item such as a zip, please email us so Sue can try to bring what is needed to repair it.

A huge thank you to Sue Bamford for generously providing these workshops free of charge.
