Students' Union Rule Changes (May 25)

Proposal 01 - Amendments to the Constitution – Students' Union Council

Vote by 10pm today and you’ll be in with a chance of winning a £200 One4All voucher. (T&Cs Apply)

“Do you support the (attached) proposal to amend the Rules of the Union and the operation of the Students’ Union Council?”

Summary Of Proposed Changes

Allow Council meetings to be hybrid and take place during the day to aid accessibility

Replace current PG School Reps roles with PG Taught AND PG Research School Rep Roles

Reduce Council from 140 members to 60 members but include elected reps from Club and Societies Executive Committees

Allow the SU Council to elect a second student rep to the University Senate (governing body)

Allow the SU to require election candidates to provide a photo / manifesto when running for election

Require Student Officers to produce four reports to SU Council every year

Add “Re-Open Nominations” as a candidate in all SU Council elections

Give SU Council more power to decide how QSU is represented at national SU events

Streamline internal SU Council Committees and some notice periods and attendance requirements at Council

Formally recognise the work of SU Councillors in the Union

Changes to update language and outdated references in the Constitution
