The Student Voice exists, and will always continue to exist. Trust me to ensure your voice will be heard.

Dear Students,

I am Samar Ahmad and am currently a second-year undergraduate studying History & International Relations at Queens. Being a student, like yourself, with many concerns about my university experience and education, it is my intention to represent the students in the AHSS faculty by sharing our worries and making sure that we are heard and meaningful changes are made.

If elected I would:

  • First of all, look to taking your feedback, and escalating it to people who can make changes to benefit us. I am a friendly and apporachable person (I promise), if you have any issues come and find me and I will do whatever I can to help you!
  • Look to making the university experience for students in our facutly less stressful and more enjoyable. It will be my job to keep you guys informed about all the latest changes and developments made to our department.
  • Explore graduate opportunities for individuals in our faculty. When going to post-graduate careers fairs, it feels as though options for AHSS are neglected and that there are few opportunities, but I do not think that is true at all. I will do my best to highlight the different pathways that our degrees can take us.

To deliver these aims I will utilise the skills gained through my life experiences. I am not afraid to speak out, having delivered speeches to a different number of audiences, ranging from school assemblies to politicians, raising awareness about genocide, as I am also a Regional Ambassador for the Holocuast Educational Trust. I was a Prefect for Diversity and Inclusion during my time at school, while also being a Young Leader in youth groups such as the Scouts. I believe my experiences make me the ideal candidate for this role. Have the confidence in me to represent you.

Thank you very much for reading my manifesto and I hope to be able to have a positive impact on your journey as a student.
