Someone who really cares about improving student satisfaction and is dedicated to the Maths and Physics department - vote for Lucy!
My name is Lucy, and I am a second year Mathematics student running for the role of representative for the School of Maths and Physics.
I have always had a wonderful experience in the school, as I feel the department is truly full of warm and welcoming people who are all working hard to make the school the best it can be. During my time in first year I frequently attended the Maths Mentors help sessions as I struggled with adjusting to the new style of work in university, leading to me forming great friendships with many other students, both in my year and in the years above. This then motivated me to become a mentor myself in my second year, alongside becoming a Lead Course Rep for my cohort. I feel this prior experience in working with both students, as a mentor, and with faculty, as a course rep, has given me a great insight into the workings of the department, hence putting me in an ideal position to run for School Rep.
As School Rep I would hope to continue the great work done this year, headed by current rep and my fellow Peer Mentor Oliver, through forming closer relationships with the Physics and Maths Society, facilitating clearer coommunications between staff and students, alongside whatever changes we can think of to improve student satisfaction and quality of life, both academically and socially.
I hope you can trust in me to represent your interests in the department, and stand up for whats best for students like you and I.
Vote for Lucy!
