  • About

The QUB Disabled Student's Association is a student-led community for disabled and neurodivergent students at QUB. We believe that everyone experiences and navigates the world in different ways, and our aim is to help make university life easier, more accessible, and more enjoyable for all.

We provide a safe and welcoming space where you can meet others, share experiences, and support each other. Whether you are looking for practical advice, information about services, or simply a place to connect with people who understand, you’ll always find a friendly face here.

    How We Help

    • Peer support: relaxed spaces to talk openly, swap strategies, and feel part of a supportive network.
    • Guidance: clear information and signposting to supports inside and beyond QUB (see our Events tab for more).
    • Practical tips: navigating studies, commuting, and student life in ways that suit your strengths and needs.
    • Community: accessible socials, and opportunities to build friendships.

    Our Approach

    • Our focus is on making sure every member feels welcome, supported, and able to take part in a way that works for them.
    • We use content notes and clear agendas where possible; hybrid and low-sensory options when we can.
    • We recognise that everyone’s needs are different and supporting each other to find approaches that work best for them.
    • We use content notes and clear agendas where possible; hybrid and low-sensory options when we can.
    • You choose what you share — our spaces are confidential and judgement-free.
    • We intend to work hand in hand with the QUB Disability Office to adapt and streamline support for the 21st century, making it easier for students to access what they need.
    • We listen to feedback and adapt so our activities work for as many people as possible.

    Who Can Join

All disabled and neurodivergent students at QUB are welcome — whether conditions are visible or invisible, long-term or new. You don’t need a diagnosis to be part of the association. Anyone who wants to be part of a supportive community is welcome to join in.

    Get Involved

We already have a range of events planned throughout the year, from service showcases to relaxed socials. But this is an active community, and we want your input too — if you have ideas for events, workshops, or projects you’d like to see, let us know. In the coming weeks, we’ll also be holding elections for committee roles once we have more members, to ensure leadership is chosen fairly and openly. By working together, we can make the association a space that truly reflects and supports the needs of students.

    Working Towards Better Accessibility

Part of our role is highlighting where accessibility can be improved across campus — from study spaces and digital resources to everyday student life. By raising these issues together and working with QUB staff, we can help create an environment where disabled students don’t have to fight unnecessary barriers just to participate.

    Supporting Wellbeing

We know that being disabled or neurodivergent at university can bring extra challenges. That’s why we’re committed to supporting student wellbeing through peer connections, safe spaces, and signposting to mental health resources that understand the experiences of disabled students.

    Looking Ahead

Beyond our community spaces and events, we’re also here to make sure disabled students are part of shaping QUB for the future. That means building stronger links with support services, improving how information is shared, and ensuring student voices are always at the heart of change.

We’d love for you to be part of the QUB Disabled Students' Association. Whether you come along for one event or become a regular at our meetups, you’ll always find a place here where you’re valued and supported.
