About

Welcome to the Nigerian Society at Queen's!

As you take steps to move to study at Queen’s Belfast, the Nigerian Society is a platform to welcome you to a home away from home.

Through events, workshops, seminars etc., the Nigerian Society creates opportunities to meet fellow Nigerians and assist one another to settle well into the University and also facilitate easy integration of Nigerian students arriving at the host community, Belfast, for the first time.

Standard membership is open to current Nigerian students, and Associate membership is available to graduates, non-students, academic staff, union staff, students from another university, and anyone who is willing to share in the Nigerian culture.

Here are some of our aims and objectives:

  • To be a home community for Nigerian students coming to study at Queen’s, and non-students who count as associate members
  • To be a platform for positive networking and communality among Nigerians at Queen’s
  • To be a medium of encouragement, unity, and constructive management of the diversity among Nigerians
  • To seek and protect the rights and welfare of Nigerians at Queen’s
  • To celebrate and share the cultural and social values of Nigeria as represented in Africa.
